On 24 May 2022, SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming had a meeting with Khabibullo Vohidzoda, Director of the Drug Control Agency under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The sides discussed prospects for expanded intra-SCO anti-drug interaction in great detail. They noted the productive work of a three-level mechanism of annual consultations involving representatives of specialised agencies responsible for implementing the upgraded SCO Anti-Drug Strategy and an action programme to fulfil it by 2023. The officials reaffirmed their readiness to promote common approaches and to step up cooperation with specialised international organisations, including the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, in order to combat illegal drug trafficking.
The SCO Secretary-General attended an exercise involving a K-9 squad who searched for drugs. Exercise participants also dealt with "drug smugglers" and destroyed drugs at a specially equipped facility.
