On 20 April 2022, at the invitation of the Chinese Centre for Language Education and Cooperation and the Chinese Language Union, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Zhang Ming took part in a meeting dedicated to Chinese Language Day, with the theme "The Chinese language: Building a better future together."
In his address, Zhang Ming drew attention to the growing influence of the Chinese language in the world and its significant positive role in promoting international cooperation. He emphasised that the Organisation would continue to actively support efforts to improve Chinese-language teaching in the SCO member states, thereby helping to maximise the potential of regional humanitarian exchanges, the development of cooperation in culture and education, and the consolidation of the unity and harmony of the SCO family.
