On 1 April 2022, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Zhang Ming had a meeting at the SCO Secretariat with Mohamed Elbadri, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the People's Republic of China.
The parties discussed the implementation of the SCO Council of Heads of State decision to grant Egypt the status of SCO dialogue partner and potential spheres of cooperation within the framework of the SCO. They stressed their mutual resolve to maintain dialogue between the SCO Secretariat and the Egyptian Embassy in China.
Mohamed Elbadri reaffirmed his country's interest in developing multifaceted cooperation with the SCO, including on security, economic, cultural and humanitarian matters.
