On 22 March, SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming received Artyom Sharov, the General Representative of the State Development Corporation VEB.RF in China at the SCO Secretariat.
Zhang Ming praised the results of VEB.RF's chairmanship of the SCO IBC in 2019-2020. He pointed out that the global economy, which has not yet fully recovered from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, is now being severely hit by the illegal unilateral sanctions. This makes it especially relevant to expedite the use of national currencies in mutual trade and increase the share of mutual transactions to expand the opportunities for financing joint projects.
The Secretary-General confirmed the SCO Secretariat's readiness to provide every kind of support to VEB.RF State Corporation in deepening financial, investment and other promising kinds of cooperation in the SCO space.
