On 12-14 March 2022, Uzbekistan chaired a meeting of the SCO CNC in Bukhara. The agenda focused on preparations for the next meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State (CHS) scheduled for September 2022 in Samarkand. In this context, the national coordinators compared notes on the schedule of main events taking place during Uzbekistan's SCO chairmanship, documents drafted by the Uzbek side, and other matters related to the SCO's current activities.
They noted that practical progress had been achieved in implementing last year's CHS decision to start the procedure granting the Islamic Republic of Iran admission to the SCO with the status of a member state. They also discussed preparations for drafting memoranda on granting the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the State of Qatar the status of SCO dialogue partner, as well as the establishment of partner relations with certain other international associations.
The Сouncil of National Coordinators is a key body coordinating and managing the SCO's current activities. It conducts the necessary preparations for the meetings of the Council of Heads of State, the Council of Heads of Government (Prime Ministers), and the Council of Foreign Ministers. In the 2021-2022 period, the Republic of Uzbekistan has held the SCO Chairmanship.
