On 2 March 2022, SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming had a meeting with Farhod Arziev, the newly-appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the People's Republic of China, at the SCO Secretariat.
Zhang Ming congratulated Farhod Arziev on his appointment to the high-ranking position and expressed confidence that his rich professional experience would help further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation within the framework of the Organisation and consistently facilitate more profound bilateral relations between China and Uzbekistan.
The SCO Secretary-General noted that the SCO Secretariat currently prioritised efforts to ensure the success of the events that are planned during the Republic of Uzbekistan's SCO chairmanship. "We are focusing on the contents of the upcoming SCO summit in Samarkand, ministerial meetings and other major events. The SCO Secretariat is prepared to work on draft documents and to advance the initiatives of various parties together with Uzbekistan," Zhang Ming noted.
In turn, Farhod Arziev congratulated Zhang Ming on his appointment as SCO Secretary-General and thanked him for the SCO Secretariat's active work aimed at holding the Samarkand meeting of the SCO Heads of State Council at a high organisational level and with a detailed agenda, and for the successful fulfillment of organisational-coordinating functions both during practical interaction within the framework of the Organisation and in expanding the SCO's international contacts. The Ambassador informed Zhang Ming about preparations to hold meetings of the SCO Heads of State Council, and the SCO Foreign Ministers Council, as well as meetings of Secretaries of Security Councils, ministerial meetings and a number of themed forums and conferences.
The Ambassador reaffirmed the diplomatic mission's readiness to actively cooperate with the SCO Secretariat on all matters aiming to further strengthen diverse cooperation.
