On 11 February 2022, SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming had a meeting with Ambassador of Myanmar to China, U Myo Thant Pe.
The Ambassador congratulated Zhang Ming on his appointment as SCO Secretary-General and wished him every success in his new position. He drew attention to the fact that Myanmar and SCO member states were launching detailed multilateral cooperation. U Myo Thant Pe also praised the SCO's role as an organisation with a positive agenda focusing on efforts to facilitate peace, stability and economic development in the region. He also assured the SCO Secretary-General that Myanmar completely supported SCO activities.
In turn, Zhang Ming praised Myanmar's interest in the SCO. Both officials agreed to maintain regular contacts between the SCO Secretariat and the Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
