On 19 January 2022, SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming had a meeting with Andrei Denisov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the People Republic of China at the SCO Secretariat
The discussion focused on the current SCO activities and efforts to consistently improve the work of the Secretariat. Zhang Ming and Andrei Denisov also reviewed the prospects for further intensifying multilateral interaction within the SCO, which would serve to strengthen security in the region and counter modern challenges and threats.
While discussing preparations for the Organisation's high-level events, primarily the SCO Heads of State Council Meeting, the SCO Secretary-General and the Ambassador agreed on the need to prioritise qualitative aspects, to fill intra-SCO cooperation with maximum practical content and to more effectively implement specific agreements and decisions.
The meeting took place in a friendly and warm atmosphere. The parties underscored their mutual desire to continue regular contacts on all items of the SCO agenda.
Attending the meeting were also Deputy SCO Secretary-General Grigory Logvinov, Russia's Permanent Representative to the SCO Secretariat Minister-Councillor Dmitry Lukyantsev, the Secretariat's officials and diplomats from the Russian Embassy in Beijing.
