At Pakistan's suggestion, from 21 September to 4 October 2021, competent authorities of the SCO member states took part in the second stage of the Joint Anti-Terrorism Exercise (JATE), Pabbi — Anti-terror — 2021, in the city of Pabbi in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
High-level delegations from the anti-terrorism and national security bodies of SCO member states and the Executive Committee of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure participated in the exercise.
Following the training on 4 October 2021, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Shah Mahmood spoke at the closing ceremony and gave a comprehensive briefing on Pakistan's efforts to combat terrorism and its role in ensuring regional security.
The Pakistani side noted the need for close cooperation and coordinated efforts of SCO member states in countering challenges to peace and security.
For reference: JATE is an annual anti-terrorism exercise held within the framework of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS). This year, Pakistan hosted the exercise at its National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) in Pabbi, Punjab.
