Over the past four days, from 26 to 29 January 2021, National Coordinators of the SCO Member States discussed a wide range of matters pertaining to the successful organisation of events during Tajikistan's Chairmanship of the Organisation in 2021.
The parties exchanged opinions on the documents to be submitted for signing at a regular meeting of the SCO Heads of State Council, which will be held in September 2021 in Dushanbe. They underscored the need for actively using the mechanisms of expert meetings and those of permanent representatives at the SCO Secretariat for the effective
and timely coordination of the entire package of documents.
The participants accepted for consideration Tajikistan's proposal to institute a commemorative medal to mark the 20th anniversary of the SCO and the Organisation's anthem.
The national coordinators approved a programme of cooperation between the member states' foreign ministries in 2021 as well as the draft plan of the main SCO events for 2021 as a basis for further coordination.
They exchanged opinions on establishing SCO working groups on traditional medicine, the fight against poverty, on startups and innovations.
The participants noted the importance of promptly coordinating memorandums with international organisations, including the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, the Eurasian Economic Commission, the Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre, the Arab League, the UN Economic Commission for Europe, UNCTAD, UNIDO and the International Road Transport Union.
The participants heard a report by the SCO Secretariat on holding regular meetings of the SCO Forum, the SCO-Afghanistan Contact Group and the Consortium of Economic Analytical Centres of Member States, as well as the Spider Web International Anti-Drug Operation.
Representatives of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure's Executive Committee reported on preparations for the main events and on the coordination of draft RATS documents.
During the event, representatives of Uzbekistan presented books in the Uzbek language called Eighty-eight Tales from Eight Nations and Eight Thousand Proverbs from Eight Countries, as well as a souvenir album Postal Stamps of the SCO Countries. The books were published by the Public Diplomacy Centre in Uzbekistan.
The SCO Secretariat informed the participants on the results of the January 2021 meetings with permanent representatives of member states to the SCO Secretariat to discuss the implementation of initiatives and proposals voiced during meetings of the SCO Heads of State Council, the SCO Heads of Government Council and the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers in 2020.
The meeting's final protocol reflected the parties' agreements on all items of the agenda.
 
Members of the Council of National Coordinators coordinate current SCO activities and ensure cooperation between ministries and agencies of the Organisation's member states.
The Republic of Tajikistan assumed the chairmanship following the 10 November 2020 meeting of the SCO Heads of State Council.
Tajikistan's Chairmanship coincides with the Organisation's 20th anniversary and is held under the motto 20 Years of the SCO: Cooperation for Stability and Prosperity.
