On 13 November, SCO Secretary-General Vladimir Norov met at the SCO Secretariat with newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the People's Republic of China Tuvshin Badral.
The Secretary-General congratulated the Ambassador on taking office and wished him success in this high position.
Vladimir Norov spoke about the main results of the SCO Heads of State Council meeting held online on 10 November and the preparations for the SCO Heads of Government Council meeting.
Special attention was given to Mongolia's participation in the SCO as an observer state. The parties discussed possible formats of interaction with a view to promoting cooperation within the SCO. The Secretary-General pointed out the importance of the Roadmap for the Development of Interaction Between the SCO Secretariat and Observer States and Dialogue Partners, adopted in Bishkek in 2019.
The Ambassador stressed the need to deepen cooperation and strengthen Mongolia's position as an observer state using the adopted roadmap, and mentioned the Embassy of Mongolia's desire for closer cooperation with the SCO Secretariat.
Mr Tuvshin Badral praised the success of the recent virtual SCO Summit and noted the SCO's role in ensuring regional security and stability as well as its special contribution to the development of multilateral cooperation.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Tuvshin Badral was formerly head of Mongolia's National Emergency Management Agency.
Tuvshin Badral was promoted to Brigade General by a presidential executive order in March 2015.
Mongolia has been an SCO observer state since 2004.
