On 28 October 2020, SCO Secretary-General Vladimir Norov had a meeting with Saidzoda Zohir Ozod, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Tajikistan to the People's Republic of China, at the SCO Secretariat.
The SCO Secretary-General congratulated Saidzoda Zohir Ozod on his new appointment and wished him every success in his activities.
One of the SCO founding states, the Republic of Tajikistan had formulated its main fundamental principles, and it remains an active participant as well as an advocate of multilateral cooperation to maintain peace, stability and security of member states and to strengthen the Shanghai Spirit, Mr Norov noted.
He pointed out the initiatives of President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon during the Bishkek and Qingdao summits in 2018 and 2019. These initiatives have great significance for expanding mutually beneficial multilateral cooperation between the SCO member states.
Mr Norov and Mr Ozod discussed close cooperation for further expanding and strengthening diverse cooperation and exchanged opinions on organising and holding planned SCO events during the upcoming presidency of the Republic of Tajikistan.
They also expressed confidence that Tajikistan's upcoming presidency of the Organisation, due to coincide with the SCO's 20th anniversary, will be up to the mark.
The Ambassador of Tajikistan thanked the SCO Secretary-General for the warm reception and the informative conversation.
The meeting took place in a traditional atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding.
