On 12-13 October 2020, the Joint Commission on International Road Transport Facilitation held a second meeting via videoconference. The event was chaired by Deputy Transport Minister of Russia Alexei Semyonov.
The participants discussed the current state and operational readiness of the approved international road routes, the printing and use of international road transportation permits, the development of the existing and the choice of new routes and checkpoints, as well as possible joint investment projects in transport.
Based on the results of the meeting, the participants reaffirmed their readiness to open six new routes by the end of 2020 as stipulated in the Agreement on International Road Transportation Facilitation signed in Dushanbe in 2014.
The Agreement on International Road Transportation Facilitation was signed during a meeting of the SCO Heads of State Council held in Dushanbe on 12 September 2014 and came into effect on 20 January 2017.
The Joint Commission on International Road Transport Facilitation includes representatives of the competent agencies of the SCO member states and is designed to coordinate the consistent implementation of the Agreement. The constituent meeting of the Joint Commission was held in Beijing in May 2017.
