On 11 September 2020 in Moscow, SCO Secretary-General Vladimir Norov met with CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev.
The two officials discussed the preparations for the summits of the SCO and CIS heads of state to be held in November and October 2020, respectively, via videoconference.
They exchanged views on both associations' current and future plans regarding their security, trade and economic, as well as humanitarian cooperation. Several important proposals were made for organising themed joint events with the participation of experts from relevant agencies in the member states.
During the conversation, the sides also covered some key topics concerning regional and global affairs, and exchanged opinions on the current situation in the region and around the world.
The CIS and SCO are partner organisations that interact on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding between the SCO Secretariat and the CIS Executive Committee signed on 12 April 2005.
