On 3 August 2020, the SCO Secretariat hosted a meeting of SCO Secretary-General Vladimir Norov with the permanent representatives to the SCO Secretariat, during which he presented SCO Certificate of Appreciation to Nurlan Akkoshkarov to mark the end of his term in office as SCO Deputy Secretary-General.
Vladimir Norov noted Mr Akkoshkarov's important contribution to the SCO's progress and to boosting its international prestige. The department he heads has been efficient in promoting cooperation between the SCO member states at meetings of justice ministers, interior ministers, emergency ministers, chairs of the supreme courts, and prosecutors general. It also organised personnel outreach and made sure that approved budget allocations were used as designated.
The SCO Secretary-General wished Mr Akkoshkarov success in his new position of Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the SCO Secretariat and expressed hope that their working relationship and friendship would remain strong.
For his part, Nurlan Akkoshkarov expressed deep gratitude to the SCO Secretary-General and the permanent representatives present for having praised his performance and for their comprehensive support.
The participants in the meeting also exchanged views on preparations for the upcoming SCO CFM and CHS meetings scheduled for the autumn of this year in the Russian Federation.
Between January 2018 and July 2020, Nurlan Akkoshkarov served as SCO Deputy Secretary-General from the Republic of Kazakhstan, heading the Administrative and Legal Department.
Pursuant to the Resolution of the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers, Mr Yerik Ashimov has been appointed as SCO Deputy Secretary-General from the Republic of Kazakhstan.
