On 27 February, SCO Deputy Secretary-General Nurlan Akkoshkarov, who heads the SCO Observer Mission at the elections to Majlisi Oli (Tajikistan's parliament), met with Chairman of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda of the Republic of Tajikistan Bakhtiyor Khudoyorzoda.
The Commission head outlined the details of the election campaign, spoke about the events held and the regulations adopted. Bakhtiyor Khudoyorzoda also updated the Mission on what the Commission had done so that the elections were transparent: used information and communication technologies and created favourable conditions for the electorate, including for voters with disabilities. He pointed out that the country provided for easy access to information on the candidates to the parliament as well as fair canvassing conditions for the candidates.
Nurlan Akkoshkarov presented a message from SCO Secretary-General Vladimir Norov to the Chairman of the Commission. He also noted that the SCO Mission to Tajikistan was experienced in monitoring elections to governing and legislative bodies of the SCO member states. He thanked the Commission workers for the favourable conditions created for monitoring the preparations and the organisational side of the electorate process.
In turn, Bakhtiyor Khudoyorzoda sincerely thanked the SCO Mission for its participation in the process of monitoring the elections and its readiness to help with the work carried out by the Commission.
