On 9 December 2019, Beijing, the People's Republic of China hosted the concluding meeting of divisional heads of SCO member state defence ministries for international military cooperation, and the eighth meeting of the Expert Working Group for the Meeting of Defence Ministers of the SCO member states (SCO EWG).
The meeting included delegations from the defence ministries of the SCO member states and the Republic of Belarus, a SCO observer state. Aide K. Dzhusayev from the SCO Secretariat took part in the eighth meeting of the SCO EWG.
The meeting participants discussed current issues of cooperation between the defence ministries of the SCO member states, reviewed the Cooperation Plan for Defence Ministries of the SCO Member States and SCO EWG performance in 2019, and discussed cooperation for 2020.
The participants acknowledged the successful implementation of the EWG action plan for the SCO Council of Defence Ministries for 2019. Russia offered a draft programme for the EWG for the SCO CDM for 2020.
The participants agreed to hold the ninth meeting of the SCO Council of Defence Ministries EWG in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
The meeting participants appreciated the efforts of the Chinese Ministry of Defence in preparing and holding the event and expressed gratitude for their hospitality and for creating favourable working conditions.
