On 16 November 2019, SCO Deputy Secretary-General Xie Xiaoyong had a meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Dapkiunas as part of the SCO Observer Mission in Belarus.
The deputy foreign minister expressed his gratitude to Mr Xiaoyong for the SCO's part in the international observation of the elections to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus.
Mr Dapkiunas also praised the organisation's activities and noted that Belarus as an SCO observer state was ready for comprehensive cooperation in areas of mutual benefit.
Xie Xiaoyong thanked Andrei Dapkiunas for inviting the SCO Mission to observe the most important event in the political and social life of the Republic of Belarus and stressed its readiness to ensure impartial and objective observation of the elections.
During their constructive discussion, the officials also considered current issues of close cooperation, especially in economic and information security as well as the use of nuclear energy.
