On 17-18 October 2019, the seventh meeting of the Special Working Group on Modern Information and Telecommunications Technologies in the SCO Member States took place in Bishkek.
Experts discussed a wide range of issues aimed at further developing cooperation between the SCO Member States' government agencies responsible for the development of information technologies.
In particular, they discussed the practical implementation of the Concept for Cooperation between the SCO Member States in the Sphere of Digitalisation and Information and Communication Technologies adopted by the SCO Heads of State at the summit held in Bishkek in June this year.
The cooperation concept was designed to expand cooperation between the SCO Member States in digitalisation, information and communication technologies and innovation. Information security, robotics, the internet of things, big data handling and artificial intelligence are among its priorities.
The protocol was signed following the meeting.
The group's next meeting is scheduled for February 2020.
The Special Working Group on Modern Information and Telecommunications Technologies has operated under the Conference of ministers responsible for foreign economic and foreign trade activities of the SCO Member States since 2004. Its main task is to coordinate the joint actions by SCO relevant ministries and agencies in the priority areas of the development of information technologies.
