A Russia-chaired meeting of the Council of National Coordinators of SCO Member States (CNC) was held in Moscow on 20-23 August.
The meeting agenda included over 40 issues related to the further development of versatile cooperation between the SCO member states.
The participants at the event exchanged views on how to implement the initiatives advanced by the SCO heads of state at the Bishkek Summit on 14 June 2019.
They also focused on the preparations for the next meeting of the SCO Heads of Government (Prime Ministers) Council scheduled for 31 October to 1 November 2019 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
The national coordinators compared notes on the draft 2020 Plan of SCO Main Events and discussed the preparations for the meetings of the science and technology ministers, heads of environmental agencies, and railway administration chiefs planned to be held before the end of 2020.
Also under consideration were matters related to the further development of relations between the SCO Secretariat and the executive agencies of partner international and regional organisations.
The CNC also discussed a number of practical aspects of the SCO's activities and mapped out specific joint steps to deal with some of the pressing issues on its current agenda.
On the sidelines, there was an informal gathering between the SCO national coordinators and the SCO permanent representatives to the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO).
The CNC coordinates the SCO activities and interaction between the relevant ministries and agencies of the SCO member states.
The Russian Federation is in charge of the SCO presidency between 2019 and 2020.
