On 20 August 2019, the 2019 International Horticultural Exhibition (Expo 2019 Beijing) hosted a Tajikistan Day.
Opening the event, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan Izatullo Sattori said that the Tajikistan pavilion at the exhibition featured over 30 types of agricultural produce.
"The 23,000 people visiting the pavilion daily can also gain an insight into Tajikistan's achievements in culture, agriculture, the energy sector and the tourism industry," the Minister of Agriculture said. According to Mr Sattori, the export potential of the Tajik agro-industrial complex is estimated at two million tonnes of produce.
Mr Sattori also spoke about Tajik-Chinese agricultural cooperation, including that in the area of crop production and animal husbandry. The country cooperates with the People's Republic of China within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
Zhao Liangping, the representative of the Chinese side at Expo 2019 Beijing, noted during the event that the photos of Tajik landscapes and exhibits [at the Tajikistan pavilion] were quite attractive to Chinese tourists. He is confident that Expo 2019 Beijing will help expand cooperation between China and Tajikistan, as well as creating greater mutual understanding between the peoples of both countries.
A music band and a dance ensemble performed at the exhibition and acquainted visitors with the culture and folk art of Tajikistan.
Tajik actors performed various acts, including songs and dances, on the stage of Guirui Theatre, with the audience giving them a big hand. Bakhtiyor Ibrokhimov, the artistic director of the Gulshan pop band, performed a song in Chinese for the local visitors.
The event involved Chinese officials, representatives of SCO member states, diplomats, entertainers and public activists.
The Tajikistan pavilion at Expo 2019 Beijing, which opened 29 April 2019, will receive visitors through 7 October 2019.
