On 12 August 2019, SCO Secretary-General Vladimir Norov had a meeting with United Nations Under-Secretary-General, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Olga Algayerova on the sidelines of the First Caspian Economic Forum in Turkmenbashi, Turkmenistan.
Vladimir Norov informed Olga Algayerova of the outcomes of the SCO Heads of State Council meeting in Bishkek, held on 13-14 June 2019, and the priorities of the SCO.
During the conversation, Mr Norov said that the SCO was ready to work together with UNECE on implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, as well as the SCO Development Strategy until 2025.
Ms Algayerova said that UNECE was ready to work with the SCO to deliver on the opportunities for trade and economic cooperation.
The two officials discussed in detail matters related to signing the draft Memorandum of Understanding between the SCO and UNECE secretariats, and agreed to continue their consultations to deepen cooperation between the two organisations.
