On 4 July 2019, SCO Secretary-General Vladimir Norov had a meeting with Kunming Vice-Mayor Mr Hu Baoguo at the SCO Secretariat in Beijing.
The officials discussed the implementation of agreements reached during the SCO Secretary-General's visit to Kunming on 24-25 June 2019. They also mentioned the importance of the SCO International Marathon, which will be held in Kunming on 1 December 2019, and the cultural programme of that event.
Mr Norov and Mr Hu Baoguo called for stimulating the work of the SCO-China Centre for Youth Exchanges at Kunming University and for using the facility's potential more effectively by implementing practical projects and programmes and by developing ties with SCO universities.
The officials also discussed the SCO's participation in the China International Travel Mart (CITM), Asia's largest tourism fair that will be held in Kunming between 15 and 17 November 2019.
The Kunming Vice-Mayor pointed out that Kunming was ready to help strengthen friendly ties between China and the SCO member states. He also mentioned Sayyid Ajall Shams al-Din Omar al-Bukhari, a resident of Bukhara who held the post of Yunnan Governor in the 12th century. Mr Hu Baoguo praised the great contribution the first Yunnan governor had made to the development of the province and said that he had left an imprint on China's history.
In this context, the sides agreed to shoot a documentary about Kunming's historical ties with the SCO countries.
The meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere.
