On 22 May, 2019, on the sidelines of the meeting of the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers held in Bishkek, SCO Secretary-General Vladimir Norov met with Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
During the meeting, the officials exchanged opinions on the current state and prospects of cooperation within the framework of the SCO.
Vladimir Norov noted the Pakistani side's active participation and constructive approach to every issue on the Organisation's current agenda.
The Secretary-General also told the minister about the Secretariat's initiatives aimed at promoting practical cooperation in the spheres of trade and economy, tourism, education and youth policy, pointing in particular to the Eight Wonders of the SCO project, the SCO Economic Forum and the establishment of the Consultative Council under the SCO Secretariat.
The Foreign Minister of Pakistan highly commended the SCO Secretariat's coordinating role in strengthening cooperation between the SCO member states in all areas of the Organisation's activity and in the development of its foreign relations. "For the sake of the SCO's development, the Pakistani side is willing to support the principal organ's every suggestion and initiative," Shah Mehmood Qureshi said.
The meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere.
