On 17-20 May 2019, the Kyrgyz side chaired a meeting of the SCO Council of National Coordinators in Bishkek.
Those present reviewed a wide range of matters included on the draft agenda of the SCO Foreign Ministers' Council meeting, scheduled to be held 22 May 2019 in the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic.
They discussed various topics regarding the contents of the upcoming June 2019 SCO summit in Bishkek and coordinated draft concluding documents and decisions, due to be adopted by the heads of SCO member states.
The documents that have been examined aim to strengthen intra-SCO cooperation in the field of inter-regional cooperation, the fight against illicit drug trafficking, digitalisation and information-communication technologies, environmental protection, sports and healthcare, as well as cooperation between media outlets.
The participants focused on expanding the SCO's external contacts, discussed draft memorandums regarding the SCO's cooperation with the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the World Tourism Organisation, the Food and Agriculture Organisation, the UN Economic Commission for Europe and the Astana International Financial Centre.
Members of the SCO Council of National Coordinators coordinate the organisation's routine activities and ensure cooperation between the relevant ministries and departments of SCO member states.
