Following the deadly terrorist attacks in Sri Lanka on 21 April, the SCO Secretary General, Vladimir Norov offered his condolences to the Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirsena.
"I was deeply saddened to hear about the devastating terrorist attack that occurred in Sri Lanka during the Easter celebrations on April 21, 2019, which have claimed the lives of many innocent people.
These violent terrorist acts have once again confirmed relevance and necessity of consolidation of our efforts for elimination of the menace of terrorism.
The Shanghai cooperation organization strongly condemns terrorism in all its form and manifestations and reiterates its firm determination and commitment to work with regional partners and international organizations to eradicate the scourge of terrorism. I hope that the perpetrators of this wicked act will be found and punished.
I offer my heartfelt condolences to the families of all those who have lost loved ones and my hope for a speedy recovery to those injured."
