On 4 April 2019, Jinan was the venue for a presentation dedicated to the SCO member states' trade, economic, and humanitarian cooperation projects with the city during a visit of the SCO Ambassadors Club.
Jinan City Vice Governor Yu Guoan, SCO Secretary-General Vladimir Norov, members of the SCO Ambassadors Club, top managers of several sectoral departments and representatives of over 50 major companies and Shandong Province tourist agencies took part in the event.
During his speech, the Vice Governor warmly greeted the delegation of the SCO Ambassadors Club. He pointed out the dynamic economic growth of the economy, the tremendous production opportunities and the rich tourist resources of the Shandong Province.
SCO Secretary-General Vladimir Norov during his address expressed confidence that organising such a meeting between the SCO ambassadors and the Shandong business community leaders to present and to discuss the implementation of joint trade, economic and tourist cooperation projects would not only be productive but useful too.
The choice of Shandong Province as the venue for the first offsite meeting of the SCO Ambassadors Club this year is not accidental because in June 2018 Qingdao hosted the historical SCO summit, which was the first to be held in the "big Eurasian eight" format and this set a fresh approach to the Shanghai Spirit.
The presentation was attended by Ambassador Xiao Qinghua from the Chinese Foreign Ministry's Department of European-Central Asian Affairs, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the People's Republic of China Vikram Misri, Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to the People's Republic of China Kanaiym Baktygulova Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the People's Republic of China Masood Khalid, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the People's Republic of China Andrei Denisov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the People's Republic of China Parviz Davlatzoda, Minister-Counsellor of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the People's Republic of China Yerik Ashimov.
During their remarks the ambassadors and high-ranking diplomats from the SCO member states underscored the importance of invigorating their multilateral trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation and provided detailed information on the privileged and favourable conditions in their countries for foreign investment.
