On January 17, 2019, Secretary-General Vladimir Norov held a meeting with Azerbaijan's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to China Akram Zeynalli at the SCO Secretariat in Beijing.
During the talks, the officials discussed important matters concerning regional and international affairs as well as the current situation and prospects of cooperation between the SCO and the Republic of Azerbaijan as the organisation's dialogue partner and other matters of mutual interest.
The ambassador conveyed congratulations from Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov to the SCO Secretary-General on taking this post, wished Mr Norov every success and further achievements and expressed his readiness to support the implementation of the plans.
The meeting was held in a warm and friendly manner.
