Vladimir Norov officially took office as the new Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) on 1 January 2019, replacing the outgoing SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov, whose term in office expired on 31 December 2018.
Vladimir Norov was appointed to serve as the next Secretary-General by the decision of the Council of SCO Heads of State on 10 June 2018 (Qingdao, PRC).
Vladimir Norov's term as the SCO Secretary-General ends on 31 December 2021.
