On 11 December 2018, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Rashid Alimov had a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the People's Republic of China Turki Mohammed Al-Madi.
The ambassador commended the cooperation with the SCO Secretariat and noted a number of milestones achieved by the SCO over the past three years, including India and Pakistan joining the organisation as full members.
Mr Al-Madi went on to praise the SCO for its international efforts, as well as for its constructive and diverse agenda, designed to promote a fair and equal world order, enhance regional security and facilitate steady development. The ambassador pointed out that Saudi Arabia has established good relations with all SCO member states and is eager to step up cooperation with the organisation.
The SCO Secretary-General thanked the ambassador for Saudi Arabia's active contribution to the joint UN-SCO high-level meeting that took place in New York on 27 November 2018.
At the ambassador's request, Rashid Alimov shared some information on the SCO's ongoing and future undertakings.
The two officials exchanged views on matters of mutual interest.
