On 2 November 2018, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Rashid Alimov met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov in Tashkent.
The meeting highlighted current and potential future matters on the SCO agenda, above all, in light of the practical implementation of the agreements reached during the historic summit of the SCO Heads of States Council in Qingdao (9-10 June 2018) and the recent meeting of the SCO Heads of Government Council in Dushanbe (11-12 October 2018).
Mr Kamilov praised Mr Alimov's contribution to bolstering cooperation within the SCO and thanked him, on behalf of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, for his successful work as SCO Secretary-General.
Mr Alimov, for his part, thanked the President and the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan for their support during his tenure as SCO Secretary-General and underscored the relevance and significance of the important initiatives put forward by the Uzbek side with the aim of deepening multilateral cooperation in the SCO framework.
The meeting took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
On 31 October-2 November 2018, the SCO Secretary-General was in Tashkent, where he took part in an international conference, Combatting Terrorism: Cooperation Without Borders, and held a number of bilateral meetings.
