On 19 October 2018, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation's automobile fleet at its Beijing Headquarters received two new-generation cars for its service needs as a gift from SAIC Maxus, the biggest auto manufacturer in Shanghai.
"A hard-working and innovative city, Shanghai has been taking care of the SCO Headquarters since the very first days of our organisation. SAIC Maxus is no exception. The Shanghai-based company SAIC Maxus was the official transport partner of the historic SCO summit in Qingdao in June 2018," SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov said, opening the ceremony.
"Today, the company again opts for business cooperation with the SCO. SAIC Maxus decided to give the SCO Secretariat a gift — two luxury automobiles with ‘smart technology' and the highest guarantee of quality," Mr Alimov added.
Expressing gratitude for the generous gift, the SCO Secretary-General praised the reliability and high quality of SAIC Maxus products, which won recognition at the Boao Forum for Asia, the G20 and BRICS summits and other international events and conferences.
SAIC Maxus General Director Xu Qiuhua stressed that "it is a great honour and privilege for our corporation to provide its latest models to the SCO Headquarters for its service needs."
The participants in the ceremony familiarised themselves with the new product line of the Shanghai auto giant and tested all the configurations of SAIC Maxus vehicles in online mode.
The two cars were presented to the SCO Secretariat as a gift from the SAIC Maxus Automotive Corporation under an agreement signed during Secretary-General Rashid Alimov's visit to Shanghai on 18 September 2018.
