On 18 October 2018, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Rashid Alimov received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the People's Republic of China (PRC) Turki Almadi at the SCO headquarters in Beijing.
The Saudi ambassador handed Mr Alimov a letter from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia Abdel bin Ahmed al-Jubeir with a request for SCO dialogue partner status for his country.
The ambassador stressed that the Kingdom has a great desire to join common efforts in promoting peace, stability and security and sustainable development in the region.
Mr Alimov, at the request of the Saudi side, informed the ambassador of the results of the SCO Heads of Government Council meeting in Dushanbe (11-12 October 2018).
The sides exchanged opinions on matters of mutual concern.
