Online registration for the Third International Marathon of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation 2018 (http://www.sco-marathon.com/) opened at 9 am, Beijing time, on 20 September 2018. The website has Chinese and English language versions to make registration more user-friendly.
The Organising Committee received more than 5,000 applications from professional and amateur runners within just two hours after the registration began.
Anyone interested in taking part in the largest annual sporting event sponsored by the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation is invited to apply.
Just as in the previous years, the Third International SCO Marathon will take place on 2 December 2018 in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China, the City of Eternal Spring. Up to 20,000 people are expected to compete in the marathon, including professional runners from the SCO family and other countries. The marathon will be preceded by large-scale cultural events and performances, and a gala concert will be held to honour the winners and guests. The marathon will have a press centre, where accredited journalists can get all the information they may need. CCTV 5 network will broadcast the marathon live, accompanying it with commentary.
The Kunming International Marathon is certified by the Chinese Athletic Association as a Gold Label marathon, and aspires to being labelled by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).
