On September 17-18 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan chaired a meeting of the Commission of Senior Officials in Charge of Trade and Economic Cooperation of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).
The conference agenda focused on the preparations for the upcoming meeting of the SCO Council of External Trade and Economy Ministers to be held in the Tajik capital on September 19, 2018.
Particular attention was paid to reviewing the Action Plan on Implementation of the Programme of Multilateral Trade and Economic Cooperation of the SCO, as well as to agree on the documents to be submitted for consideration by the SCO Council of Heads of Government (Prime Ministers) scheduled for October in Dushanbe.
The experts analysed the performance of the working groups on sector-based areas of cooperation, discussed possible ways to further stimulate cooperation in micro, small and medium-sized business, to establish intensive cooperation between the constituent regions of the SCO member states and other issues on the current trade and economic agenda.
The CSO works with the Meeting of SCO Member State Ministers responsible for foreign economic and foreign trade activities to implement the Programme of Multilateral Trade and Economic Cooperation of the SCO.
The CSO coordinates the activities of the following working groups: on the development of transport; on support for investment; on electronic commerce; on modern information and communications technology; on trade facilitation; and customs cooperation.
