On 18 September 2018, Rashid Alimov visited the plant of the SAIC Maxus company, which is part of the Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC Motor), in Shanghai and had a meeting with SAIC Motor top management.
During his visit to the plant, SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov and Lan Qingsong, Vice President of the Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation and President of SAIC Maxus, signed a document handing over two Maxus vehicles to the SCO Secretariat.
Expressing his gratitude to the SAIC Motor management, Rashid Alimov noted that the vehicles will be an extra support to the SCO Secretariat in its intense daily activities. "We highly value the attention from the Shanghai Mayor's Office and the practical contribution of the city's business community to strengtheninging the potential of our Shanghai-born organisation's headquarters," Mr Alimov said.
Vice President of the Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation and President of SAIC Maxus Lan Qingsong stressed that "it is a great honour and privilege for the corporation to be able to contribute to and support such a respectable international association as the SCO."
The official handover ceremony will take place in mid-October at the SCO Headquarters in Beijing.
SAIC Maxus was founded in 2011 by the Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation, one of China's largest car manufacturers.
