In the afternoon of 17 September 2018, Rashid Alimov met in Shanghai with President of the Academic Council of the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS), professor Yang Jiemian.
The dialogue involved an in-depth exchange of views on key international and regional issues and on the current status and future prospects for interaction within the framework of the SCO, including the development of the organisation's international ties.
The parties also discussed cooperation between the SCO Secretariat and SIIS, including joint steps aimed at involving a wide range of researchers in studying the SCO's multifaceted activities.
The Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS) is one of China's leading research institutions. Founded in 1960, its main goal is to study global policy, economics, security and China's external relations with other countries. The SIIS includes 6 institutes and 11 research centres.
