On 11 September, 2018, a group of SCO Secretariat members led by Secretary-General Rashid Alimov joined the 2018 Eastern Economic Forum (EEF). The extensive business programme includes high-level meetings and negotiations, panel discussions and a plenary meeting.
The discussion focused on the current issues of trade and economic cooperation within the SCO, including the promotion of transport cooperation, environmental protection, food security, youth cooperation and others.
The 2018 EEF programme includes more than 70 business events such as panel sessions, business dialogues, working breakfasts and roundtable discussions. As many as 6,000 participants from over 60 countries have applied, the largest foreign delegations arriving from China, Japan, South Korea and Mongolia, led by heads of state and government.
The SCO Secretary-General traditionally takes part in the Eastern Economic Forum.
