On 28-29 August 2018, Moscow (Russian Federation) hosted a Meeting of the Chiefs of the General (Joint) Staffs of the Armed Forces of the SCO Member States.
During the meeting, the chiefs of staff exchanged opinions on topical issues of international and regional security, as well as efforts to counter international terrorism in the SCO region.
The heads of delegations also observed the active phase of the Peace Mission 2018 international anti-terrorism exercise at the Chebarkul training ground in the Chelyabinsk Region.
After the event, the sides agreed to continue taking part in anti-terrorism exercises, which will help further expand cooperation in countering international terrorism.
SCO countries have been hosting Peace Mission international anti-terrorism exercises since 2007 aimed at coordinating their operations to fight terrorism, extremism and separatism, which are among the Organisation's main goals.
