Between 20 and 24 August 2018, the SCO Council of National Coordinators (CNC) convened in Cholpon-Ata for its first meeting chaired by National Coordinator from the Kyrgyz Republic for the SCO Kazybek Kochkonov.
More than 40 matters related to the implementation of the SCO action plan for 2018 were on the agenda.
The national coordinators exchanged opinions on how the initiatives put forward by the SCO heads of state during the SCO Qingdao summit between June 9 and 10, 2018 are being fulfilled. They also discussed the schedule of the key SCO events for the second half of 2018.
The Kyrgyz side submitted a plan designed to strengthen multi-faceted cooperation in keeping with the strategic line for creation, stability, further rapprochement of the member states and the realisation of the SCO's enormous potential.
Special attention was given to the preparations for a regular meeting of the SCO Council of the Heads of Government, due to be held in Dushanbe, the Republic of Tajikistan, between 11 and 12 October, 2018.
The national coordinators discussed drafts of the SCO action plan and a programme of cooperation between the SCO foreign ministries for 2019, as well as the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation and interaction between various regions of the SCO member states.
The CNC considered some practical aspects of SCO activities and mapped out concrete joint steps to address current matters on the SCO agenda.
The CNC coordinates SCO activities and interaction between relevant departments and agencies of the SCO member states.
The Kyrgyz Republic took over the SCO presidency in June 2018.
