Between 16 and 18 April 2018, Beijing hosted the 10th meeting of experts from the ministries and agencies of the SCO member countries responsible for environmental protection.
The participants at the meeting exchanged views on cooperation in environmental protection, as well as coordinating a draft SCO Concept for Cooperation in Environmental Protection.
The concept stipulates multilateral cooperation in the protection of the environment in the SCO member states to preserve as well as restore biodiversity in the interests of future generations.
The ministries and agencies of the SCO member countries responsible for environmental protection have held their expert meetings since 2005. Their main aim is to draft proposals on expanding cooperation under the Programme of Multilateral Trade and Economic Cooperation of the SCO Member States and to upgrade the SCO legal framework.
