On 17 April 2018, SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Le Yucheng at the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During their conversation, the parties discussed topical matters of the SCO agenda, including preparations for a meeting of the SCO Heads of State Council, the main SCO event in 2018. Qingdao in the People's Republic of China will host the event, which will be held in the Eurasian Eight format for the first time, on 9-10 June 2018.
Mr Alimov congratulated Mr Yucheng on his appointment as Deputy Foreign Minister and noted the traditionally partner-like cooperation between the SCO Secretariat and the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. "The PRC leadership invariably provides diverse support and facilitates fruitful cooperation within the SCO, contributing real content for the benefit of the SCO family," Mr Alimov noted.
Mr Yucheng praised the efforts of the SCO Headquarters and its professional team in promoting and expanding multifaceted cooperation within the SCO and noted the Organisation's growing authority and international influence.
The officials also exchanged opinions on a number of topical matters connected with international cooperation.
The conversation was held in a constructive and friendly atmosphere.
