SCO Observer Mission starts monitoring Azerbaijan election

Between 5 and 11 April, 2018, members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation's Observer Mission will be monitoring the preparations for and the conduct of the early presidential election in Azerbaijan.

The Mission includes observers from SCO member states and the SCO Secretariat.

The Mission is headed by SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov.

The Mission is planning to monitor the elections in Baku, Ganja, Mingachevir, Sumqayit and Absheron.

The Observer Mission is carrying out its activities at the invitation of the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in accordance with the SCO Regulation on the SCO Observer Mission at Presidential and/or Parliamentary Elections and Referendums, dated 15 May, 2006.
