On 28 March 2018, SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov met with Mongolian Minister of Road and Transport Development Jadamba Bat-Erdene. The officials exchanged opinions on the current state and development prospects of international transport cooperation in the region, as well as discussed the development of regional transport connectivity.
Rashid Alimov updated the Mongolian minister on the SCO's efforts in the field of transportation, primarily the implementation of the SCO Agreement on International Road Transportation Facilitation.
Jadamba Bat-Erdene said: "The SCO is rallying the efforts of many states in various spheres of economic cooperation. Transportation is one of the key fields. Mongolia is interested in expanding transportation cooperation within the SCO. This will enable all the transport agencies in the region to speak the same language and to expand the horizon as well as the network of routes for our mutual progress."
The SCO Secretary-General also pointed out that "a comprehensive approach to transport development within the SCO provides for expanding the network of international logistics centres and also the establishment of a network of industrial clusters along the transportation arteries within the SCO, in particular, the accelerated construction and renovation of motorways that form part of the international routes, as well as the introduction of innovations together with intellectual transportation schemes."
