On 18 March 2018, SCO observers worked in Russia's six federal districts. The Observer Mission headquarters in Moscow has received the first results of the observers' work in the Primorye Territory and the Irkutsk and Novosibirsk regions. Data from regions is being processed and the final statement of the Mission will be prepared.
On the election day, the SCO Secretary-General inspected polling stations in the Ryazan Region. Rashid Alimov talked to the observers and representatives of the local election commissions as well as the voters. The Secretary-General praised the high voter turnout.
Mr Alimov visited a polling station located in the Yesenin Ryazan State University and spoke with its rector, Andrei Minayev. He also met with Ryazan Region Governor Nikolai Lyubimov, Deputy Governor Igor Grekov and other regional officials.
By the end of the election day in the Primorye Territory, members of the SCO Observer Mission inspected 86 polling stations. According to their preliminary estimates, the election was open and transparent.
In the Novosibirsk Region, SCO observers visited 50 polling stations and monitored the election on 18 March. They noted the high turnout and the positive attitude of the voters.
The SCO Observer Mission continues to work in other regions of Russia.
