On 20 September 2017, SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov met with William Lacy Swing, Director General of the International Organisation for Migration, on the sidelines of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
Mr Swing informed Mr Alimov about the IOM's current activities in developing international cooperation on migration and finding ways to solve migration issues and challenges.
The officials also exchanged opinions on potential areas of cooperation between the two organisations.
They agreed to establish working contacts between the SCO and IOM secretariats.
