On 14 August 2017, SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov met with Russia's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to China Andrei Denisov.
The meeting focused on the measures to implement the results of the SCO Heads of State Council Meeting in Astana, and preparations for the upcoming SCO Heads of Government Council Meeting chaired by the Russian Federation.
The SCO Secretary-General talked about the SCO Secretariat's activities and plans for the rest of the year. The parties had an in-depth exchange of opinions on the key issues on the Organisation's agenda.
During the meeting, the Russian Ambassador introduced Dmitry Lukyantsev, Russia's new permanent representative in the SCO Secretariat. Andrei Denisov noted that the status of Russia's permanent representative in the SCO Secretariat had been upgraded to the rank of minister-counsellor of the Russian Embassy to China.
The discussion took place in a friendly atmosphere.
