On 2 August 2017, the city of Lianyungang in China's Jiangsu Province hosted the Fifth China-Central Asia Cooperation Forum. This year, its main topic was "Building bridges for promoting Belt Road cooperation and combining efforts to ensure peaceful development and prosperity."
The Forum's opening ceremony was attended by Vice-Chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Wang Qinmin, Jiangsu Province Governor Wu Zhenglong, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ochilboy Ramatov and Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Azim Ibrohim.
The Forum was organised by Jiangsu Provincial Peoples Government and the Chinese Foreign Ministry, bringing together more than 200 people from various ministries and agencies, local governments, business and scientific circles, as well as leading Chinese and Central Asian mass media.
SCO Deputy Secretary-General Sabyr Imandosov attended the forum.
The China-Central Asia Cooperation Forum is a major cooperation platform for China and Central Asian countries. The first forum took place in 2012 in the city of Tongxiang, Zhejiang Province, China.
